The School District of Fort Atkinson Board of Education has unanimously approved an administration recommendation to employ a full-time director of human resources.

The board took that action during its regular monthly meeting Thursday night.

In the spring of 2014, district officials secured a consultant to study human resource systems within the School District of Fort Atkinson.

“In the past, the school district has operated with a decentralized model of handling human resource duties,” District Administrator Jeff Zaspel informed the board. “Since 2011, state and federal mandates such as Act 10, Federal Health Care Reform and Educator Effectiveness, among others, have had a major impact on district operations and services, and now demand new practices to ensure legal compliance and organizational viability.”

The board received the study results and recommendations in November. Since then, board members have worked with administrators to consider a variety of options.
